Q & A

Why is angel investing important?

Angel investing improves the business vitality of our regional economy by vetting new ideas and helping companies reach their first major milestones. As they grow, these companies create new jobs, attract talented individuals and fuel the regional economy.

Where does AIF invest?

AIF has a particular focus on companies located in Connecticut, but considers other companies from the northeast as well.

Who does AIF invest in?

We look for companies with interesting technologies and innovative approaches to new and existing markets. AIF invests, primarily, in Health Care, Software/IT, Alternative (Green) Energy, Telecom and Manufacturing. We seek companies that can provide up to a 30x return within 5 years.

What kind of risks are associated with angel investing?

Angel investing has risks similar to early stage venture capital. The resulting equity is typically illiquid until the company reaches an exit event, such as an Initial Public Offering (IPO) or acquisition.

How can I participate in angel investing?

You can solicit early-stage companies directly or you can join a group like the Angel Investor Forum. By participating in AIF, you gain the expertise of a sophisticated group of like–minded individuals to collaborate on the investment decision process.

Who are the members of the Angel Investor Forum?

Our members include current and former CEOs, venture capitalists, senior executives, entrepreneurs and active private equity investors.
